But before we present you with our favorite pieces from selected collections, we want to do a little round-up on the month of fasting ramadan make.

What is Ramadan and when are Iftar and Sahur celebrated?

Ramadan refers to the holy month, which for the Muslim religion stands for peace, harmony and reflection. As one of the five pillars of Islam, it marks the phase of the moon in which the prophet Mohamed received the prophecy. The month of fasting lasts 30 days, varies according to the current lunar cycle and takes place this year from March 22 to April 21, 2023 in Germany instead of. During this period, people eat in a convivial atmosphere with family and friends Iftar (after sunset) or Sahur (before sunrise). Both occasions for which you can dress up in a special way. At the end of Ramadan, the breaking of the fast (Id al-Fitr), which is also known by the Turkish name Şeker Bayramı, is celebrated particularly big.

Ramadan celebrations like Şeker Bayramı and Co.: That’s why occasion-related fashion should become much more diverse

Visibility, inclusivity and diversity not only start with the selection of models, employees or clothing sizes, but also the general way of dressing should be considered. Be it in relation to construction solutions, such as in adaptive fashion, or in relation to gender or cultural customs. Especially in our society, which is characterized by different cultures and identities, it is important to consider these in the design and applicability of clothing. This also refers to the occasion-related clothing, which is not always inclusive in this aspect. So styles are often featured that cannot be worn by everyone because they are particularly short, don’t think about plus-size bodies, the chest fit is very generic or just show a lot of bare skin.

Modest fashion, which by definition can look very different, focuses on pieces that keep the body covered, i.e. are dressed. Wearing can have personal, religious, but also style-technical reasons, which means that modest fashion is not a single phenomenon, but a clothing style might, aimed at a wide range of people. If we look at the current figures for the multi-billion dollar fashion segment, it also becomes clear how much purchasing power and interest there is in inclusive and holistic fashion concepts. According to the State of the Global Islamic Fashion Report 2022, it is expected to grow to $375 billion by 2025.

Inclusion and diversity should not only be a priority around the Ramadan festivities, but always!

No wonder, then, that more and more retailers are following suit and are designing collections for the month of Ramadan and the associated celebrations as well as for everyday life.
